The Gas Oil is used as automotive fuel and industrial heating oil. Around 98 MBD of 0.05% sulfur and other sulfur grade is produced at Petro refinery.

Diesel fuel, also called diesel oil, combustible liquid used as fuel for diesel engines, ordinarily obtained from fractions of crude oil that are less volatile than the fractions used in gasoline. In diesel engines the fuel is ignited not by a spark, as in gasoline engines, but by the heat of air compressed in the cylinder, with the fuel injected in a spray into the hot compressed air. Diesel fuel releases more energy on combustion than equal volumes of gasoline, so diesel engines generally produce better fuel economy than gasoline engines.

Gas Oil Production

Gas oil streams are produced either by atmospheric distillation or by secondary processing of the materials derived from the vacuum distillation of the residuum from the atmospheric distillation of crude oil. Materials from this secondary processing may have higher aromatic and olefin contents than straight run gas oils. The distillate fuels may be straight run or a blend of various gas oil streams (both straight run and streams from secondary processing).
